As an increasingly large number of enterprises implement VoIP systems inside their corporate LANs, NAT detection and traversal will be critical to making or breaking a successful VoIP deployment.
Intelligent NAT Traversal
Kayote’s systems determine the NAT environment of each VoIP end-point and implement the most efficient method to enable the RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol) voice stream to pass correctly between end-points. In most situations, Kayote’s NAT detection and traversal algorithm allows the end-points to talk directly to each other, resulting in an increase in the efficiency and quality of the RTP stream. However, when needed, Kayote will proxy the voice with its own software RTP proxy. The proxy can be placed at the customer’s premises, eliminating the large investment in equipment typically required.
