Codecs and Restrictions
In the VoIP environment, Codecs are used to encode and decode the analog signals of the voice into the binary and digital environment of the Internet. VoIP operators may use different Codecs based on the type of software/hardware, protocol, and available bandwidth for each call, often causing incompatibilities to arise.

Kayote manages the Codecs on both ends of the call regardless of the differences between them. This ensures call reliability and increases the available universe of termination partners. Furthermore, as business or technical considerations may often require the selection of a particular codec, Kayote enforces these preferences, overriding the selections that would otherwise have been chosen.
